What Is Kindness To Parents

What Is Kindness To Parents

The parents are entitled by right to kind and dutiful treatment from their children. Since this is an important duty that Allah emphasized so strongly, it is essential for every human being to know what constitutes kind treatment of parents. It is no exaggeration to say that for a believer, to be a dutiful son or daughter is to take the way that surely leads to heaven.

We note first that Islam uses the Arabic word birr in connection with children's attitude towards their parents. The term connotes kindness, compassion, benevolence, and almost every aspect of good and generous treatment of others. One of Allah's own attributes is derived from this root. Allah is the "Barr," which means that His kindness, compassion, grace, and generosity never fail. Scholars say that this term includes everything that is good.

Muslim scholars divide birr into two main branches; financial and non-financial. In respect of children-parent relationship, if either or both parents are poor, children must support them according to their means. This is not a matter of choice. Islam makes it a duty on the children to look after their parents, providing them with the same standard of living as they provide for their own children. If they are well off, to go beyond the mere provision of what is necessary for a decent living, so as to allow their parents to share in the comforts and luxuries that they can afford, is to make an investment for the hereafter. Nothing goes amiss with Allah. Allah is pleased with any son and daughter who please their parents.

Looking for Allah's reward, some people make their parents feel that whatever they own is their parents' as well. They can use it in the way they please. Although some people are careless how they spend their money, most parents are more careful when it comes to spending their children's money than spending their own. So, to make one's parents feel that they do not live on their children's charity is to give them that kind of trust that makes the difference between feeling oneself to be a burden and feeling perfectly at home. The more parent feels happy and contented with their children, the more Allah is pleased with those children. Moreover, parents pay their children back immediately. This takes the form of praying Allah for them. Such a prayer by parents for their children, which for Muslims, normally takes the form of "May Allah be pleased with you," is certain to be answered. When Allah is pleased with someone, He helps him or her overcome their difficulties, eases their hardships, and guides them to success in this life as well as in the hereafter.

The duty required of sons with respect to financial support of their parents is to provide them with what is reasonable according to their means. A son of moderate means cannot be expected to provide his parents with the same standard of living as a much wealthier son. Although we speak of this as kind treatment by children, it is indeed a repayment of a debt. Parents look after their children when they are young and helpless. They provide them with all they need as much as they can. Moreover, they do it willingly. Children take what they are given unaware of how much effort their parents exert in order to earn money for them. When the children grow up and their parents are in need of their support, that support must come naturally, without letting the parents feel themselves to be a burden on their children.

Apart from financial support, children must respect and honor their parents and extend to them the sort of treatment that befits their status as parents. In any social occasion, and even when they go out with their parents on the street, children must not precede their parents or take a higher or more favorable position than theirs. Children should always allow their parents to take precedence. In Muslim societies, that sort of treatment always earns children more respect. Muslim society looks down on anyone who do not extend to their parents the standard of honorable treatment expected from children.

Moreover, children are expected to do as their parents tell them. From the Islamic point of view, this does not apply only when a child is young. As long as a son or a daughter is able to grant the wishes of their parents, and by doing so they neither incur any sin, nor jeopardize any greater interest, then they should do so as if these wishes of their parents were commands. There is nothing excessive in this. It does not impose a great, heavy burden. Normally, a parent is easy to please. Even when parents ask for something that is difficult to obtain, children can maneuver their way to please their parents without undertaking any great difficulty. Some parents may be unreasonable in their demands, especially when they live with their son in the same house. Relations between his wife and his mother may be occasionally strained. A mother may feel that her daughter-in-law takes her son away from her. That may lead to friction between the two. A wise son tries his best to reconcile his mother's rights with those of his wife. He must not be unfair to either. Should his mother ask him to divorce his wife, he must not do so if his wife fulfills her duties toward him and his mother. All that a daughter-in-law is required to do towards her mother-in-law is to look after her in a reasonable manner.

Even in such kind treatment, children are only paying back a debt to their parents. No matter how great a burden the children bear, they do not pay them back adequately. It is very rare that a parent is so ill and handicapped that he or she needs to be looked after in the same way as a baby is looked after by his parents. `Abdullah ibn `Umar, a leading scholar among the Prophet's Companions once saw a man from Yemen carrying his mother on his back and going around the Ka`bah in his Tawaf. Rather than show any sign of complaint, the man was happy, repeating a line of poetry in which he likened himself to a camel his mother was mounting. The only difference is that a camel may be scared by something and go out of control. He would never go out of her control. He looked at `Abdullah ibn `Umar and asked him whether by so doing he discharged his debt to his mother. Ibn `Umar said, "No. You have not even paid back one twinge of her labor pain when she gave birth to you." (Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad and authenticated by Al-albani)

That was not an exaggeration by Ibn `Umar. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) defines the only way through which children repay their parents fully. He said, as related by Al-Bukahri in his book Al-Adab Al-Mufrad and by Muslim and others on the authority of Abu Hurairah, "No child repays his parent fully unless he finds him a slave, then he buys him and sets him free."

If your dog spends his time licking himself repeatedly, it may be time to pay closer attention to your dogs licking habits and dog licking symptoms.

Some dogs lick themselves to the point of self-mutilation for a variety of reasons. Boredom, lack of entertainment or stress could cause your dog to begin licking his paws, legs or some other body part. Is your dog constantly following you and sitting down when you sit then starts to lick himself? If this is the case, hes probably simply looking for something to do. Could you take him out for a walk now?

Dogs are like humans in the sense that they also have unhealthy quirks or habits that they start doing when they are bored. For example, take a look at people waiting in line in grocery stores. Can you spot some of the sneaky habits that people have to entertain themselves when they are bored or anxious while waiting in line? Dogs also have little habits that grow out of boredom. Some women may run their hands through their hair without even thinking about it and some dogs lick their paws or other body parts out of habit or boredom.

Thousands of years ago, our ancestors bred and domesticated dogs for the purpose of being worked. Now that societys needs have changed, dogs are no longer used as workers unless they are used on a farm for herding sheep or hunting. The purpose of dogs has evolved from helping people to survive to a being a fury friend with loads of energy.

Other dog licking symptoms result in open wounds and lesions on your dogs body. These lesions could become infected with bacteria and spread to the rest of his body via your dogs bloodstream. Such infections could cause severe health problems if not dealt with promptly.

There are occasions when licking is beneficial. For example, when a puppy first comes into this world, the mother will lick him clean to remove all natal debris. The licking also helps puppies breath and it stimulates bowel movements. There is no evidence to suggest that excessive licking at birth by the mother would result in puppies developing a licking habit that could cause health problems later on.

Another reason behind your dogs excessive licking could be allergies. If you believe that your dog suffers from allergies, you should document your dogs licking symptoms and take him to see a veterinarian. The vet may suggest an allergy test and should provide possible treatments for your dog. You should know, however, that allergy tests for animals can run as high as $300 for a dog.

In order for the vet to perform the allergy test, your dog will likely be put under some mild anesthesia. The procedure shouldnt last more than 20 to 30 minutes and your dog will be a little drowsy afterwards. The vet normally uses another drug to reverse the anesthesia and your dog should feel a little more awake after the second drug. There will be a shaved patch on the underside of your dog, but the hair will grow back soon.

After the vet has completed the allergy test, he or she will probably discuss the various treatments available. You should consider the options wisely without forgetting about the financial consequences. Now that you can recognize some dog symptoms for licking, you should be able to help your dog feel more relaxed by properly addressing the issue and getting the right kind of medical treatment for your dog.

What Is a Tropical Storm? (And How It Works)

If you live in the United States, youre officially in hurricane season. Summer and early fall are prime seasons for storms, but hurricanes arent the only weather threat people face.

So what is a tropical storm exactly? Tropical storms (also known as tropical cyclones) are more common than hurricanes, and by the time some hurricanes make landfall theyre downgraded to a tropical storm. But dont let the word downgrade fool you, tropical storms can be just as dangerous as a hurricane.

What Is A Tropical Storm?

In order to understand what a tropical storm is, you have to understand the elements that go into creating one. There are a variety of tropical weather patterns that play a role forming tropical storms.

Tropical storms start off as tropical depressions. A tropical depression occurs when a low-pressure area and thunderstorms combine and produce a circular wind flow with maximum sustained winds below 39 mph. Most tropical depression winds stay between 25 and 35 miles per hour.

The next step up from a tropical depression is a tropical storm. In order for a tropical storm to form,  cyclonic circulation needs to become more stable and wind gusts need to be between 39 mph and 73 mph. Its important to remember that tropical depressions dont get names, but storms do.

Why Do Tropical Storms Form?

If youre thinking about tropical storms, you may also be curious about why they form. Like with many storms, the conditions for a tropical storm to form need to be just right.

When it comes to tropical storms, the environment is everything. Sea surface temperatures need to be warm, usually around 79 degrees Fahrenheit. There also needs to be high relative humidity from the surface up through the lower levels of the troposphere and low atmospheric wind shear.

These elements alone arent enough to make a tropical storm form, you also need some chaotic weather in the atmosphere. A cluster of thunderstorms or some cyclonic circulation paired with other factors makes the perfect environment for a tropical storm to form.

How Do I Prepare For a Tropical Storm?

If youre asking the question what is a tropical storm, you need to be prepared for dealing with one. Even if you dont live in an area thats prone to tropical storms, you could end up traveling to one. Having storm prep knowledge could help you in a dangerous situation.

If youre concerned about safety during a tropical storm, be sure to keep these tips in mind:

Have a way to get updates from government officials and weather reporters. A solid emergency radio can help during storms. You should also be sure to have your phone charged during a storm.
Be sure to have food and water before a storm. You may not be able to go food shopping for a few days, and water lines could become damaged or polluted.
Always take evacuation orders seriously, dont try to wait out serious storms.
Protect property as best as you can. This can include securing windows and doors or taking care of weak nearby tree branches before they have the chance to detach and harm your property.
Have contact information for emergency electricians, plumbers, or other services for after the storm.

What is a Limited Divorce - Family Law Issues Explored

Sometimes in order to obtain an absolute divorce you need to gather enough evidence to support a total dissolution of your marriage. Yet, while you gathering this evidence you don't want to live with your spouse. This is where a limited divorce comes into play.

Definition of Limited Divorce
Under the eyes of the law a limited divorce is when a court will supervise the separation between you and your spouse. Most people who use a limited divorce do not yet have enough grounds for an absolute divorce, need immediately financial relief, and/or cannot settle their differences between themselves.

What Happens in a Limited Divorce?
In a limited divorce you and your spouse would live apart even though you are still legally married. During this time you are not allowed to have sexual relations with your spouse or anyone else and you cannot remarry.

The court will try to determine if either you or your spouse is at fault in the marriage and the court can also determine if support in the form of alimony is called for. In addition the court can settle issues such as child custody, child support, health insurance coverage, and the division of the marital property.

If you or your spouse dies during the time a limited divorce is in effect the surviving spouse is still entitled to inherit property and the ownership of any house or jointly owned property will remain the same.

The Grounds for a Limited Divorce
The most common reason for a limited divorce is desertion, although abuse, vicious conduct, and mutual or voluntary separation is also grounds to be granted a limited divorce.

Desertion comes in two forms; actual and constructive. An actual desertion is when one spouse abandons the other spouse for no good reason, or when one spouse throws the other spouse out of the marital home without a justifiable cause.

Constructive desertion is when either you or your spouse is forced to leave the marital home due to the conduct of the other spouse. For example, constructive desertion would be if your spouse was physically or verbally abusing you and/or your children and you were forced to flee to protect you or your children.

Conclusion
If you feel you desire a limited divorce you should not act until you've discussed this with a qualified divorce attorney who is familiar with limited divorce law. The dissolution of a marriage is difficult enough without the added stress of not knowing what your rights are and insuring they are protected.

What does it take to become a Super Achiever

What does it take to become a Super Achiever

As part of my research towards my PHD, I have had the incredible privilege of studying a number of super achievers, from around the world. It has been an excellent opportunity, amazing experience and very fascinating time, during which I have learned much and made a number of very interesting observations. I have spent time observing from both a distance and where I was invited in, as closely as possible, trying to uncover common denominators or pointers, which made these people stand out and become super achievers. I have searched to try to isolate the common denominators, which they all shared and hope my brief outline of these characteristics in this article, will support you to try to develop or enhance these characteristics in yourself.

Vision
The first thing I noticed was that every one of them had a crystal clear vision of exactly what they wanted to achieve in their future. It was not always written down, but when asked about where they wanted their lives and businesses to go in the future. Without exception, they all looked thoughtfully upward and with passion and absolute clarity, they described in vivid detail, exactly where they saw their lives a few years into the future. They could describe with absolute clarity what they wanted to happen in their futures, as though they had travelled there already and seen the future, which they wanted to create.

When they were asked to speak about their future, it felt as though they were describing something, which had already happened. I felt like I was speaking to someone who believed, so emphatically in their future possibility, that nothing could stop them from achieving it. They believed that exactly the future they had foreseen would unfold, All that was left for them to do, was take action daily and exactly that future would become their new reality. Their passion, belief and commitment felt almost contagious.

None of them had stopped trying to achieve even greater excellence.
Despite the incredible success they had already enjoyed, they all felt that they could still achieve even more. The difference was that they now had goals and a vision, which were bigger than them. They all thought bigger than their own selfish needs and wanted to build a legacy for themselves, some of which would last generations after they changed from one form of energy to another, when they reached the end of their human experience.

Why
One of the things which also stood out for me was their ability to describe exactly WHY they wanted to achieve whatever it was they were looking to achieve in the future. They had a fire of inspiration in their bellies, a deep rooted understanding about exactly WHY they were doing what they did every day. These reasons transcended self and focused on things like legacy, philanthropy, supporting others to grow, financial freedom for their immediate and extended families, community service and significance.

Belief
Every one of the great achievers I researched, also had an incredible belief in their ability to do whatever it took to bring their vision and dreams to life. They were not all born with natural talent or skills, which were above average. They just believed that they could do it and did.

Hard work
None of the achievers I researched achieved their greatness through pedigree; they had all worked really hard and had shown sufficient patience, as they travelled the path towards achievement, to wait for the results they wanted. None of them had got a free pass to the big time or the upper echelon of the corporate world. They had got to where they were with guts, determination and good old fashioned hard work. They were not afraid to work long hours and showed real discipline to do the tough stuff when required.

Life Long Learners
Without exception, every one of the super achievers I researched was 100 % committed towards consistent and persistent, lifelong learning and growth. They were completely engaged in consistently improving, learning and listening. I felt like they were constantly processing new information and absorbing as much daily experience as possible. Always exploring and looking for ways to expand. Constant improvement was a prerequisite every day and asking questions, listening, growing and learning was just a way of life for them.

Sense of Humour
There were a few exceptions to this, but generally all the super achievers, had an incredible sense of humour and did not take themselves too seriously. They saw the value of enjoying life and they allowed themselves to laugh a little bit. Yes of course there were varying levels of this, but in general they all had a good sense of humour. They were able to see the funny side of circumstances and even laugh at themselves, when they made mistakes. Their sense of humour was quite refreshing and one of the factors I think helped them mitigate or overcome challenges, as they came their way.

You are no different
I can tell you right now that there is not a single characteristic, which I identified in any of these super achievers, which you cant develop in yourself. Start today; invest the time to introduce these few crucial success criterion into your experience and you too will gradually become a super achiever.
